Calculate Your Pregnancy Due Date.

Determine your baby's estimated arrival and plan for key developmental milestones. Choose between LMP, conception, or IVF calculation methods below.

Understanding Your Due Date Calculation

A due date calculator estimates when your baby will arrive based on the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP), conception date, or IVF embryo transfer date. The standard calculation uses Naegele's rule — adding 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your LMP — which assumes a 28-day cycle with ovulation on day 14.

Calculation Methods Explained

  • LMP Method: Most common approach. Enter the first day of your last period and your average cycle length. Our calculator adjusts the standard 280-day formula for cycles shorter or longer than 28 days (e.g., a 32-day cycle adds 4 days to the due date).
  • Conception Date Method: If you know your ovulation or conception date (from ovulation tracking, basal body temperature, or OPKs), this method adds 266 days (38 weeks) from conception — more precise when ovulation timing is confirmed.
  • IVF Transfer Method: For fertility treatment pregnancies, the due date is calculated from the embryo transfer date. A 5-day blastocyst transfer adds 261 days; a 3-day cleavage-stage transfer adds 263 days. This aligns with ASRM and SART guidelines.

Gestational Age vs. Fetal Age

Gestational age (what doctors use) counts from the first day of your LMP — approximately two weeks before conception occurs. Fetal age (embryonic age) counts from conception. Our calculator displays gestational age, which is why you may be "4 weeks pregnant" before implantation even occurs. This standardization allows consistent tracking across ultrasounds, lab tests, and clinical milestones.

Trimester Breakdown

  • First Trimester (Weeks 0–13): Organogenesis — major organs and structures form. Highest risk period for miscarriage and teratogen exposure.
  • Second Trimester (Weeks 14–27): Rapid growth, fetal movement begins (quickening ~18–22 weeks), anatomy scan typically at 18–22 weeks.
  • Third Trimester (Weeks 28–40): Lung maturation, fat accumulation, brain development. Early term: 37–38 weeks; Full term: 39–40 weeks; Late term: 41 weeks; Post-term: ≥42 weeks.

Accuracy & Limitations

Due dates are estimates — only about 4–5% of babies arrive on their exact due date. Early ultrasound dating (crown-rump length at 7–13 weeks) is the gold standard for accuracy (±3–5 days). LMP-based calculations can be off by 1–2 weeks, especially with irregular cycles, recent hormonal contraception, or uncertain LMP recall. Always confirm dating with your healthcare provider via ultrasound.

Next Steps After Your Due Date

  1. Schedule your first prenatal appointment (typically 8–10 weeks gestation).
  2. Start a prenatal vitamin with folic acid (400–800 mcg) if not already taking one.
  3. Track your pregnancy week-by-week using our fertility calendar for symptom insights and appointment reminders.
  4. Use the pregnancy test calculator to know the earliest reliable testing window if you're still confirming pregnancy.
  5. Discuss screening options (NIPT, quad screen, anatomy scan) with your provider based on your dates.
